Guidelines
hauss aims to be a place where people bring their interests and passions, discover new experiences, and meet others.
Whether you find an event online or gather at a venue, everyone should be able to take part safely and be themselves.
These community guidelines apply to everyone who uses hauss — guests, hosts, staff, performers, and other users. They cover public events as well as limited events, online events, profiles, event pages, magazines, images, messages, and other activity on hauss.
In addition to these guidelines, please follow the Terms of Use, each event’s attendance conditions, and the laws of the place where the event is held.
1. Treat each other with respect
On hauss, people with different backgrounds, views, and experiences should interact with mutual respect.
The following are not allowed:
- Insults, threats, intimidation, stalking, bullying, or other harassment
- Unwanted contact, solicitation, photography, or communication
- Ganging up on an individual, or calling for such attacks
- Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, origin, religion, belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, illness, or other attributes
- Expression that promotes hatred, exclusion, or violence toward a person or group
- Impersonating others, or misleading others about affiliation or background
Disagreement and debate are not banned. They must not be conducted in ways that harm someone’s dignity or safety.
2. Keep people safe
Guests and hosts should look after their own safety and the safety of those around them.
We prohibit events, content, or conduct such as the following:
- Violence, injury, threats toward others, or concrete incitement of the same
- Supporting or recruiting for terrorism, violent extremism, or criminal organizations
- Inappropriate bringing or use of dangerous goods, weapons, or items intended to harm people
- Using, selling, transferring, or soliciting illegal drugs
- Encouraging, promoting, or giving concrete instructions for dangerous acts, self-harm, or suicide
- Operations that violate capacity, fire, disaster-prevention, hygiene, or other safety standards
- Involving people in activities with serious physical or psychological risk without explaining those risks
If there is an immediate danger, contact local police, fire, emergency medical services, or other emergency authorities before reporting to hauss.
3. No harassment or sexual misconduct
The following are prohibited online and offline:
- Non-consensual sexual remarks, contact, requests, or solicitation
- Sending sexual images or messages unsolicited
- Continuing to seek a relationship, contact, or interaction after refusal
- Sexual exploitation, human trafficking, prostitution brokering, or other illegal sexual conduct
- Sexualizing, exploiting, or endangering children
- Photographing a participant’s body, clothing, or behavior for sexual purposes without consent
Events for sex education, medical, research, or artistic purposes are not banned across the board. Hosts must clearly state the content, age suitability, possibility of nudity or exposure, and other notices on the event page, and obtain any required age checks and consent.
Public pages must not display explicit sexual images or other content that is inappropriate to show to a general audience.
4. Protect minors
Hosts of events that minors may attend must follow local law and provide an age-appropriate safe environment.
The following are prohibited:
- Sexual exploitation, grooming, or inappropriate contact involving minors
- Encouraging minors to drink, smoke, gamble, use illegal drugs, or engage in other age-restricted acts
- Failing to obtain required guardian consent where it is needed
- Inappropriately collecting or publishing a minor’s name, contact details, location, school, or other personal information
Where an age limit applies, state it clearly on the event page and on purchase or registration screens.
5. Publish accurate event information
Hosts should provide accurate, sufficient information so guests can understand the event before registering.
In principle, clearly state the following:
- What the event is and its purpose
- The host
- Date, time, and time zone
- Venue or how to join online
- Ticket price and any additional fees
- Eligibility and age limits
- Cancellation and refund terms
- What to bring, dress code, and other important conditions
- Whether photography, recording, or streaming will take place
- Any physical or psychological demands, and related notices
Do not list false or highly misleading events, events you do not intend to hold, or events that pretend to have host or performer approval they do not have.
If a material change occurs, hosts must update the information promptly and notify registrants.
6. Run events in good faith
Hosts are responsible for running events in good faith toward guests.
Where needed, hosts should:
- Obtain required permission from venues, performers, and other parties
- Obtain business, road-use, entertainment, and other required licenses or permits
- Confirm capacity, evacuation routes, first-aid arrangements, and emergency contacts
- Appropriately manage risks related to food and drink, alcohol, exercise, outdoor activity, and similar
- Handle guest personal information securely
- Respond to inquiries and complaints within a reasonable time
- Notify guests promptly if cancellation or postponement is decided
- Carry out any required refunds
Cancelling without notice, changing content substantially without explaining it to guests, or taking payment for events that will not actually be held is prohibited.
7. Respect the venue and the rules as a guest
Guests should follow the host’s reasonable attendance conditions, venue rules, and staff safety instructions.
The following are prohibited:
- Deliberately disrupting the event
- Endangering or causing serious discomfort to other guests, performers, or staff
- Entering restricted areas
- Misusing tickets or eligibility
- Unauthorized commerce, promotion, solicitation, or selling of goods
- Damaging equipment, artworks, fixtures, or other property
- Photography, audio/video recording, or streaming the host has prohibited
- Attending while intoxicated or otherwise unable to participate safely
Hosts may ask guests to leave to the extent needed for safety or compliance with these guidelines.
8. Respect privacy
Do not collect, publish, sell, or use another user’s personal information beyond its purpose without their consent.
Personal information includes, for example:
- Name, address, phone number, and email address
- Facial photos and identifiable video or audio
- Current location and detailed plans
- Workplace, school, family, and other private-life information
- ID documents, financial information, and account details
- Health, disability, and other sensitive information
Hosts must not obtain more guest information than needed to run the event. Using it beyond the stated purpose for advertising, solicitation, or sharing with third parties requires consent under applicable law.
9. Be thoughtful about photos, video, and streaming
If photography, recording, or live streaming will take place, hosts should clearly explain that and the purpose on the event page or at the venue.
Even when photography is allowed, guests should:
- Respect people who do not want to be photographed
- Not record private conversations or confidential information without permission
- Follow no-photo areas and conditions for photographing works
- Not publish images to insult or attack the people shown
- Respect portrait rights, privacy, and copyright
If consent to photography is a condition of attendance, state that clearly where it can be reviewed before registration.
10. No fraud or abusive transactions
The following are prohibited:
- Collecting money for nonexistent events or with false details
- Phishing, impersonation, or illegally obtaining payment information
- Misusing tickets, discount codes, or accounts
- Artificially inflating sales or popularity (for example by buying your own tickets from another account)
- Abusing refunds, chargebacks, or compensation systems
- Soliciting pyramid schemes, endless-chain schemes, or similar arrangements
- False or exaggerated claims about profit, effects, results, or scarcity
- Contacting others while posing as hauss, a host, a performer, or another user
For payments or transactions made outside hauss, we may be unable to verify payment status, issue refunds, or provide other support.
11. Handle regulated goods and services properly
When dealing with alcohol, food, medicines, health or beauty services, financial products, investments, cryptoassets, gambling, prizes, or other regulated goods or services, hosts must obtain required licenses, qualifications, disclosures, and age checks.
We prohibit events or content such as:
- Selling or providing illegal goods or services
- Businesses that are prohibited without a license
- Investment solicitation that misleads people into expecting guaranteed returns
- Claims that guarantee treatment or prevention of disease without scientific or reasonable basis
- Gambling or prizes that violate applicable law
- Selling recalled, stolen, counterfeit, or otherwise illegally obtained or produced goods
12. Respect intellectual property
Obtain the rights or permissions needed for text, photos, video, music, logos, and other materials you publish on event pages, profiles, magazines, and elsewhere on hauss.
The following are prohibited:
- Republishing or selling others’ works without permission
- Using trademarks, logos, or names in ways that suggest an official event
- Falsely claiming approval from performers, venues, sponsors, or other parties
- Reposting content after a rights holder has asked for removal
13. No spam or unwanted solicitation
Do not use hauss messaging, email, or other contact features for bulk sending or persistent solicitation unrelated to running an event.
The following are prohibited:
- Sending the same or similar content in bulk
- Adding guest information to advertising lists without permission
- Continuing to send promotions to people who have opted out
- Using misleading subject lines, sender names, or links
- Directing people to malware, phishing sites, or other dangerous content
- Using or providing event guest information for a third party’s sales activity
Notices needed to perform the contract — such as event details, changes, cancellation, refunds, and how to attend — should be treated separately from marketing.
14. Events on political, religious, or social themes
We do not ban listings solely because an event addresses political, religious, or social themes.
However, we prohibit activities such as:
- Incitement of violence, discrimination, or hatred
- Recruitment by force, threats, or deception
- Attacks based on others’ beliefs or attributes
- Activities that violate election, political-funding, or other local laws
- Recruiting for political or religious organizations while concealing the event’s purpose
If the main purpose is political activity, religious activity, or recruitment for either, state that clearly on the event page.
15. Disclose sensitive content in advance
If strong light, loud sound, smoke, violent or sexual content, discussions of discrimination, trauma-related material, or other content may strongly affect some guests, note that on the event page.
Also explain in advance conditions that affect the decision to attend, such as alcohol, intense exercise, prolonged standing, or activity in dark environments.
16. Reporting
If you find an event, content, or user that may violate these guidelines, use the report feature on the page or contact us.
Where possible, include:
- The event or profile in question
- The conduct or content of concern
- When and where it occurred
- Records such as messages or images
- Whether the matter is urgent
We handle reporter information carefully. We may share information with involved parties or public authorities when required by law, needed for safety, or otherwise justified.
False reports, reports meant as harassment, or abuse of the reporting feature are prohibited.
17. Enforcement
If we suspect a violation of these guidelines or the Terms of Use, we may take measures such as the following, considering the content, severity, urgency, past violations, and other factors:
- Warnings or requests to improve
- Limiting, editing, or removing content
- Excluding events from search or recommendations
- Unpublishing an event or stopping ticket sales
- Limiting messaging or other features
- Cancelling registrations or tickets
- Cancelling an event and notifying guests
- Refunding buyers
- Holding or offsetting payouts
- Temporarily suspending or terminating accounts or organizations
- Contacting payment providers, venues, or public authorities
- Preserving evidence or providing information as required by law
We may act without prior notice when there is urgency, a need to prevent abuse, or a risk that notifying the user would hinder an investigation.
We are not obligated to pre-review every event or piece of content.
18. Appeals
If you believe an action against an account, event, or content was mistaken, you may request a review using the method in the notice or by contacting us.
Include the action, your reasons, and information needed for review. After reviewing what you provide, we may uphold, change, or lift the action.
Repeatedly submitting the same appeal, or threatening or harassing staff, is not allowed.
19. Local law
hauss may be used worldwide. Users must follow not only these guidelines but also the laws applicable where the event is held, where the host is located, and where guests are located.
If stricter laws or venue rules apply, follow those laws or rules.
20. Changes to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines as the service, social context, or law changes.
For material changes, we will notify you in the product or by another method we consider appropriate.
